David Baird

Founder & Director, Launchpad Dorset CIC

David Baird founded Launchpad Dorset CIC out of pure determination to make a difference. After decades working as a fitness and mental health coach, he grew frustrated that too many people could only access help if they could afford it. Launchpad Dorset was born from that frustration — a community project built to break barriers and bring support, fitness, and purpose to everyone who needs it, regardless of their circumstances.

A former Cheshire Regiment soldier, two-time Masters Boxing World Champion, and fitness professional of over 30 years, David brings a unique blend of discipline, compassion and experience to everything he does.

Through Launchpad Dorset, David leads projects that use movement and mentorship to change lives — from the Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club, where young people and adults find confidence through sport, to Life in Balance, a programme that helps individuals with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions live stronger, more independent lives.

Driven by a belief that fitness can transform not just bodies, but futures, David continues to build opportunities that put community, wellbeing and resilience at the heart of Dorset life.
